Valtari
The Icelandic band Sigur Ros has commissioned “a dozen filmmakers the same modest budget and asked them to create videos for the new album Valtari. The filmmakers have complete creative freedom, the band completely unaware of what to expect.”
Here is the video by our friend Ryan McGinley who was featured in our “Discomfort of Sculpture” issue #4 for First Person. Since his foray into directing, I think this film is his most completed work yet. It really speaks to his vision, “where dreams and reality mingle on equal terms.” This work is his “poem to New York city bringing a childhood innocence to the streets through a character whose own light and wonder effects the world around her.” It’s mesmerizing and I love her tinsel wig. The casting is gorgeously interesting as usual. Kudos~
