The Art of Cooking curated by Hanne Mugaas Hanne is a curator that comes from a family of restaurateurs and chefs, so it’s kind of sweet for her to demonstrate that “food has always existed in art”. This may conjure images of classic Dutch still life paintings and Andy Warhol’s infamous banana cover for the Velvet Underground album but since seeing this post by Confetti System, I’m thinking this show will have lots of contemporary and conceptual twists. Lots of great artists and great friends in this show up at Royal T in Culver City, Los Angeles. I’m excited to see Tyson’s noodle painting!!! I went to Royal T for its inaugural opening of Japanese artists and it’s a very cool space with a quirky gift shop. I bought a balloon light.  Congrats Hanne. I ran into her and Cory Arcangel in Manhattan and they turned me on to “Uptown Sundays” which soon became one of my favorite adopted rituals. Show is up until August 1st. What a wonderful coincidence with our current “Radical Foods” First Person Magazine issue exploring artists who also experiment with food. Photo by CONFETTISYSTEM
