Stoked for “Brain Activity” exhibition by David Shrigley
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, historically founded on showcasing emerging and exciting young art is coming back perhaps very strong in June and July. I’m excited to see the solo exhibition by Shrigley opening on June 22 with an opening featuring our friend’s band, Blasted Canyons! Don’t miss Shrigley speaking in person on June 23 at the museum.
I’m also curious to check out their upcoming film screenings offering of slew of Ai Wei Wei films in July including Fairytale, featuring Ai’s Documenta work where he invites 200 Chinese people to witness the public art festival. Good job Joel!! Joel has been YBCA’s film curator since the 00’s and he’s still busting out a quiet, well-synced run of art, documentary, and feature films. Based on Joel’s blog postings, he also loves attending the Filipino Film festival. You can check out his picks with his “New Filipino Cinema” fest that started screening yesterday.
